What WGK means in practice
The German water hazard class (Wassergefährdungsklasse, WGK) categorises substances by how severely they can endanger bodies of water. For storage, the class alone is not decisive: what matters is the interplay of substance, packaging, volume and the structural fit-out of the hall – containment volume, floor construction and separation from other goods.
That is why we never answer "can you store this?" in the abstract. We need the safety data sheet, the packaging type and the volume. With that we check whether, and in which hall, storage is admissible within our approval.
Why Bobzin
Bobzin is the site where the WGK approval exists. Five halls with a total of 6,600 m², container ramps, electric and diesel forklifts, a truck scale directly on the premises and the option of bonded storage – which means hazardous materials can be stored, weighed, handled and kept under customs seal without moving the goods between service providers.
At the Wittenburg site, by contrast, options for storing water-hazardous substances are limited. We route such enquiries to Bobzin as a matter of principle.
Handling and responsibility
Hazardous materials are handled in accordance with the applicable statutory requirements. Quality and environmental management are embedded in our processes through ISO 9001 and ISO 14001; certification records are provided to business partners on request.
In practice that means documented goods-inwards inspection, storage areas separated by compatibility, trained staff and named contacts – so that nobody has to work out who is responsible when something happens.
Disposal and special cases
Beyond regular storage we support special cases: caked material that our breaking unit makes workable again, repacking into different containers, and handling disposal cases. Talk to us before the goods arrive at the gate – it usually saves both sides time.
Short and specific
Which hazardous materials can PENPET Logistics store?
At the Bobzin site there are options for storing water-hazardous substances and chemicals within the existing WGK approval. Specific storage is assessed on the basis of the substance, its safety data and available capacity.
Can water-hazardous substances also be stored in Wittenburg?
Only to a limited extent. Wittenburg is set up for heavy goods and fertilisers. We route enquiries concerning water-hazardous substances to Bobzin.
What documents do you need for an enquiry?
The safety data sheet for the substance, the packaging type, the volume and the intended period. That allows us to assess admissibility and capacity reliably.
Is PENPET Logistics certified?
Quality and environmental management are embedded in our processes through ISO 9001 and ISO 14001. Certification records are provided to business partners on request.
